FIC Gáldar combines international feature and short film competitions with dedicated sections for Spanish and Canarian shorts. Based in Gáldar on Gran Canaria, Spain, it accepts fiction, documentary, animation and live-action films across genres. The programme also includes retrospectives, workshops and tributes to film professionals. Its Gáldar Rueda competition gives participants 70 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film using recognisable locations in the municipality.
The festival dates back to 2013 and is organised by Gáldar City Council through its Department of Culture. Its awards include the bronze Guayarmina trophies. The dates for the 2026 edition are 10–17 October 2026.

Festival rules
2026 regulations
The festival accepts completed fiction, documentary, animation and live-action films of all nationalities and genres, in Spanish or in the original language with Spanish subtitles. Submissions are through Festhome or FilmFreeway. The submission deadline for the 2026 edition is 15 June 2026; works in progress are not accepted.
International shorts must be completed after 1 January 2025 and run no longer than 25 minutes. Features must be completed on or after 1 January 2025 and run at least 70 minutes, with no maximum length; the festival may make exceptions to the feature-length requirement. Features are preferably unreleased in Spain and must not have had a prior commercial release, according to the official 2026 regulations.
Canarian shorts must be directed by someone born in the Canary Islands, filmed at least 50% in the islands, or produced by a company with its registered tax address there. Spanish shorts must be directed by someone born in Spain or produced by a company with its registered tax address in Spain. Both short-film sections require completion after 1 January 2025, a maximum runtime of 25 minutes and ICAA registration at submission. Canarian shorts may also be selected for the Spanish section.
Screening copies are digital DCP or MP4. Selected films require promotional materials and Spanish subtitles or the materials needed to prepare them. Once selection is announced and confirmed by the producer or distributor, a competition film cannot be withdrawn. The full official regulations govern participation.
