The Guanajuato International Film Festival has placed itself as the most important platform for young filmmakers in Latin America. Beginning in 1998 in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato City, GIFF offers an extensive selection of screenings, workshops, conferences and concerts that are free of charge for the audience. It’s also an essential destination for international film industry professionals for a wide variety of networking opportunities. GIFF in the times of COVID In 2020, GIFF reinvented itself to deliver a hybrid festival edition featuring drive- in cinemas, aqua-cinema screenings on a lake and limited capacity in-person screenings at Cinemex theaters alongside an online platform available across Mexico for the duration of the event at no cost to the audiences. While we continue to be closely observing the development of the pandemic in Mexico and the implementation of international health provisions for mass events, we are confident to be able to deliver a similar edition in September of 2021 and will share detailed information with the selected films upon their invitation.
