International Short Film Festival Oberhausen

The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is an annual festival for short films and moving-image works held in Oberhausen, Germany. Founded in 1954, it is the world’s oldest short film festival and serves as a platform for filmmakers, artists, curators and industry guests working with the short form. Its programme includes international, German, NRW, children’s and youth competitions, the MuVi Award for music videos, thematic sections, retrospectives and discussions. The 72nd edition is dated 28 April–3 May 2026 and includes the theme programme “based on true events?”, focusing on reality, fiction and AI-generated images.
