Hilltop Film Festival of Diversity and Inclusion

Birmingham-Southern’s week-long film festival, hosted by our Media and Film Studies department, works to bring a diverse range of filmmakers and viewers together to present, watch, and discuss their work and the work of others. The festival will celebrate the perspectives, cultures, and genres underrepresented in the mainstream film industry, including the work of LGBTQ+, racial and ethnic minority, and female directors and producers. Particularly since BSC is located in Birmingham – a city marked by racial violence and a center of the Civil Rights Movement – the festival aims to include and honor all narratives and those that are often diminished.
