Film music is a central thread at Film Fest Gent in Ghent, Belgium. Its international feature competition awards both the best film and the use of music or sound design, while the World Soundtrack Awards and concerts focus on composition for the screen. The festival dates back to a 1974 film event at Studio Skoop and the Capitool, and adopts its present name in 2013. Its programme combines international cinema, Belgian premieres, international and Belgian student shorts, restored classics and screenings with newly composed live scores. Industry activities cover film and film music. The 53rd edition runs from 7 to 18 October 2026.
