Animation Is Film

Animation Is Film presents international animation in Los Angeles, with programmes for adults and families. The festival dates back to 2017 and is produced by GKIDS in collaboration with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Variety. Its programme combines a feature competition with short-film showcases, special screenings and conversations with filmmakers, treating animation as a cinematic medium across different styles and audiences.

The dates for the 2026 edition are 16–19 October 2026. Screenings and filmmaker events take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood, with the closing special presentation at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
