Animation Marathon

Animation Marathon is an Athens festival of short animated films, conceived as a forum where artists from Greece and abroad working in animation and the wider audiovisual arts test the limits of the form. It dates back to November 2015, when Art / European Animation Center launched it at Romantso with screenings, exhibitions and digital art workshops prepared with the Athens School of Fine Arts. Later editions spread across several Athens venues, among them the University of Athens, the Athens School of Fine Arts and the municipal Serafeio.

The competition is split into numbered programmes, and an artistic committee gives first, second and third Animation Marathon Awards together with special mentions and distinctions. Recent editions take place online; the dates for the 11th edition are 27–29 November 2026.
