L'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival
L'Alternativa, Festival de Cinema Independent de Barcelona
L'Alternativa, the Barcelona Independent Film Festival, is organised by La Fàbrica de Cinema Alternatiu, a non-profit association that promotes independent films from Spain and abroad. Its main venue is the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB). The Official section has three competitions — International Feature Films, International Short Films and Spanish Films — open to fiction, non-fiction, essay, animation and experimental work. The Parallel section presents tributes, premieres, little-known films and work by new directors; l'Alternativa Hall offers free screenings, performances and debates in the CCCB hall; and l'Alternativa PRO runs industry days and Cinema Pendent, a programme supporting independent projects in development.
The 33rd edition runs onsite from 12 to 22 November 2026, with a selection of its films online on Filmin in January 2027.
