San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival

The San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival — Semana de Cine Fantástico y de Terror in Spanish, Beldurrezko Zinemaren Astea in Basque — is a week of genre cinema in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, organised by the city’s cultural body Donostia Kultura. Screenings take place at the Main Theatre and the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. The programme combines new feature films with short film sections, including animated and Spanish shorts, and adds exhibitions, a series of books published by the festival and Fanzine War, a competition for fanzines.

Audiences vote for several of the main prizes, including best feature film, best short film and best animated short; a jury and a youth jury also give awards to short films. As part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation network, the festival presents the Silver Méliès for the best European fantastic short film. The dates for the 37th edition are 30 October – 6 November 2026.
