MUTA explores the creative reuse of existing images and sounds through screenings and education in Lima, Peru. Its non-competitive programme accepts audiovisual works of any length and origin, with particular attention to Latin America and the Caribbean. Selection centres on artistic and conceptual approaches to appropriation, moving-image archives and audiovisual memory rather than production standards or regional quotas.

Workshops, laboratories, masterclasses, discussions and publications extend the screening programme. The festival is directed by Milagros Távara Estela, and its activities are free and open to the public. The tenth edition dates are 30 July–7 August 2026 in Lima.
