The Jewish Film Festival Berlin Brandenburg (JFBB) presents international cinema about Jewish history, present and future, and about Jewish life in Germany, Israel, Europe and beyond. Nicola Galliner founded it in 1995 as part of the cultural work of the Jewish Community of Berlin and led it until 2020; since 2021 it has been run by Doreen Goethe and Andreas Stein, the organisers of FilmFestival Cottbus. Keeping the memory of the Shoah alive and countering antisemitism are part of its stated mission.

The programme of about 50 films includes two competitions, for feature and documentary films, with the Gershon Klein awards, alongside thematic sections, a tribute, short films and series. Screenings take place in Berlin, Potsdam and other towns in Brandenburg, and JFBB pro adds an industry forum for filmmakers working on Jewish themes. The dates for the 33rd edition are 4–9 May 2027.

Festival rules

Eligible are feature films, documentaries, short films, animated films, experimental films and series that deal with Jewish life and culture in history, the present and the future, in which Jewish characters and themes essentially carry the plot, or that come from Jewish filmmakers. German premieres are preferred. Films are entered through the festival's online entry form, with a screener link subtitled in English; if no screener link is available, contact film@jfbb.info. The artistic director, programme director and selection committee select the films, and entrants are notified by e-mail. The preferred screening format is DCP; other formats only after prior consultation. The festival may run an online edition parallel to the physical festival, available for two weeks from the start of the festival. By submitting a film, the entrant accepts the festival regulations.
