Ars Electronica Festival

Ars Electronica Festival is the annual festival for art, technology and society in Linz, Austria, organized by Ars Electronica Linz GmbH & Co KG. It dates back to 1979, when the first edition and the first Linz Klangwolke were staged as part of the steel city's search for a new future in the digital age. Each September the festival runs for five days, with exhibitions on an annual theme, concerts and performances, conferences and a Campus Exhibition of international universities.

The festival is the stage of the Prix Ars Electronica media art competition: prizewinning works are shown in the Prix Ars Electronica Exhibition, and a curated selection of computer animations is screened in the Animation Festival, alongside large-scale 8K works in the Deep Space 8K of the Ars Electronica Center. The dates for the 2027 edition are 8–12 September 2027.
