Saint Anna presents student films and directorial debuts in Moscow, with Russian competitions for fiction, documentary and animation alongside an international competition for short debuts. The festival dates back to 1993 and is organised by the Centre of Festivals with support from the Union of Cinematographers of Russia. Its programme combines screenings with discussions led by invited film professionals, masterclasses and round tables. The non-competitive Freestyle strand accepts short works across conventional and experimental forms.

The dates for the 33rd edition are 9–14 April 2026. Screening venues include the State Tretyakov Gallery, Pioneer, Illusion and Zotov.Kino, while the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman pavilion at VDNKh hosts the public programme.

Awards and prizes

2026 regulations: international competition awards recognise Best Film, Best Fiction Short, Best Documentary Short and Best Director under 30. The Russian competition awards first (Grand Prix), second and third prizes for fiction; first and second prizes for documentary; and a prize for animation. Other distinctions include the Etudes section prize, cinematography, sound, a debut screenplay, acting ensemble (awarded to the director), the Mosfilm prize, and special prizes and diplomas.

Festival rules

2026 regulations: the Russian competition considers student films and independent directorial debuts produced in 2025–2026, completed before 1 February 2026. Maximum running times are 25 minutes for fiction, 40 minutes for documentary and 10 minutes for animation. Prior participation in Russian festivals is excluded except for specified professional film-school festivals. The international competition considers student or first fiction and documentary films from 2025–2026, up to 25 minutes, with a Russian-premiere requirement except for projects selected by the organisers. Freestyle accepts fiction, animation, documentary, experimental and hybrid films strictly under 10 minutes; a premiere is preferred but not required. One submission per author. Selected films require a DCP screening copy. International entries require subtitles and submitters must hold the necessary rights.
