FILMETS Badalona Film Festival presents international short fiction, animation and documentary films, with a competitive Official Section and screenings for schools and families. Its Venus of Badalona awards take their name from the city’s Roman heritage. The festival dates back to a biennial amateur film event in 1969 and carries the FILMETS name from 2001. Badalona Comunicació SA organises and produces it.
The 52nd edition dates are 15–25 October 2026. Teatre Zorrilla and El Círcol are among its Badalona venues, alongside screenings in Barcelona, Terrassa and Granollers. FILMETS Pro offers industry talks and a masterclass, while FILMETS LAB supports short film development by young creators.

Festival rules
2026 Official Section participation rules
International fiction, animation and documentary shorts of no more than 30 minutes are eligible. Films produced or released before 1 June 2024, or previously programmed in the FILMETS Official Section, are ineligible. Online registration uses the festival website, Movibeta or Festhome; the published closing time is 31 May 2026 at 22:00 CET.
Entrants must hold permission from all relevant rights holders and accept responsibility for the submitted work. Participation grants public screening rights for FILMETS sessions. Selected Official Section films also grant broadcasting rights to Televisió de Badalona and Xarxa de Televisions Locals, on terrestrial television and simulcast, for two years from the edition’s end; this does not include VOD or OTT hosting. The organisers may use film material and credits for non-commercial festival promotion, including online clips of up to 30 seconds.
Selected films require a high-quality screening copy and at least two high-resolution stills. Delivery is MOV or MP4, at most 10 GB; Apple ProRes 422 or H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video, at most 100 Mbps; AAC or PCM stereo audio; resolution between 1280×720 and 1920×1080. Copies should be clean or carry Catalan or Spanish subtitles. Otherwise a clean copy and synchronised subtitles or dialogue list in English, French or German are required for Catalan translation. Delivery is by download link or FTP to the festival office.
The selection jury chooses the Official Section. An official jury, specialist juries and the audience determine awards. The organising committee resolves matters outside the rules. The official 2026 regulations govern participation.
