CURRENTS New Media presents art made with emerging technologies across Santa Fe, New Mexico. Its programme combines interactive and non-interactive installations, multimedia performance, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, wearables and digitally fabricated objects with single-channel video, animation and experimental documentary. Artists from New Mexico, elsewhere in the United States and abroad take part, with work appearing in traditional venues and public and outdoor spaces. The festival dates back to 2010 and is produced by the nonprofit Parallel Studios, whose exhibition work in Santa Fe dates back to 2002. Educational programmes and internships accompany its exhibition activity.

The 2027 festival dates are 11–20 June 2027, with El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe in the Railyard Arts District as the main venue.

Festival rules

For 2027, applications use the online submission form, with a separate form and fee for each work. Work samples must be viewable online. Works in progress are considered when samples demonstrate a substantial body of work. Applicants must disclose any use of AI in their work statement. Experimental single-channel video, documentary and animation entries must run 12 minutes or less; multi-channel video belongs in the installation category. Other categories cover installations, audio experiences, XR environments, robotics and kinetic objects, multimedia performance, fabrication and wearables.
