Wildlife and its relationship with the environment are the focus of the Gran Paradiso Film Festival, organised by Fondation Grand Paradis in Italy’s Aosta Valley. Founded in 1984, the festival combines an international competition for feature and medium-length nature films with CortoNatura, a competition for short documentary, fiction and animated films. Audience juries, including a junior jury, take part in awarding prizes, alongside a technical jury.

Screenings in the Gran Paradiso National Park accompany the De Rerum Natura discussions on culture and the environment. The 30th edition’s dates are 19 July–7 August 2027 in Cogne and the Gran Paradiso valleys. The main Cogne programme runs from 19 to 24 July, followed by events in the surrounding municipalities and GPFF Online screenings.

Festival rules

The 2027 competition accepts feature and medium-length nature films and CortoNatura short films: fiction, animation or documentary, no longer than 20 minutes. Films must be completed on or after 1 January 2024 and must not have been selected in an earlier edition. Submission is free and digital. Each participant may submit up to two films per section; only one work per director can be selected. Selected films screen in their original language with Italian subtitles. The submission deadline is 28 February 2027. Online screenings require the rights holder’s consent and use a protected platform. Full regulations are published on the festival website.
