New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival takes place inside the terminal building of New Chitose Airport in Chitose, Hokkaido, where screenings, guest accommodation and events are all located within the airport. Founded in 2014, it is run by an executive committee chaired by animation researcher Masashi Koide, with animator Taku Furukawa as honorary chairman.

The short film competition, for works under 30 minutes, is divided into International, Japan and Student sections, alongside a Music Animation category and a feature film competition for works of 30 minutes or more. The NEW CHITOSE Digital Signage category, formerly the 30 Seconds category, presents 15- and 30-second works on screens throughout the airport. The programme also includes lectures by Japanese and international creators and exhibitions in the terminal's public spaces. The 13th edition runs from 20 to 24 November 2026.
