Paleochora Lost World Short Film Festival

Paleochora Lost World Short Film Festival launched its 1st edition in June 2019 to a spectacular success. The Festival enjoyed packed audiences at all screenings and played host to 22 visiting Filmmakers & Industry guests from as far afield as Brazil, USA, France, Ireland, UK, Germany, Greece & Iran. We may be at the most southern point of Europe, but there are BIG Film things happening here and on the entire Island of Crete. Our main aim will be to select films which focus on great storytelling, whether fiction, documentary or any other accepted genre. In due course we will announce details of parallel Talks and Master Classes which will be included in our Film Festival Programme. Keep a weather eye for details both here and on our website. Screenings are held Under the Stars in the Town Hall Square with daytime programmes held at the fabulous Pearl Cavo oceanside venue. We have a limited number of complimentary rooms which the Paleochora Hotel & Rooms Association kindly offers to Officially Selected International visiting filmmakers. (To be eligible, filmmakers must have reached Official Selection Status plus provide us with evidence of Travel to Crete arrangements/bookings.) There are also special hotel discounts available for Festival attendees, details can be found on our website We are open to all genres of Short Films, with the exception of gratuitous Horror. Our core festival team is made up of a small group of volunteers, film enthusiasts and film professionals. Our goal is to provide the best possible communication and a fun, productive festival experience.
