Salem Film Fest

Since 2007, Salem Film Fest has brought the world's best independent documentaries and their makers to Boston's North Shore. This invitation-only event is the largest International documentary film festival in Massachusetts, annually presenting around 80 documentary features and shorts to a loyal audience of thousands. Salem Film Fest sees its filmmakers as partners in staging the event. It has never charged a single submission fee and has paid screenings honorariums to every feature length film it has screened, while also offering free lodging and travel assistance. The Fest is run largely by volunteers through a non-profit entity, Salem Community Arts Center, Inc. and takes place at great theater venues in Salem, Beverly and Peabody, Massachusetts. While the Fest is invitation-only, documentary filmmakers are encouraged to send information about their work to programming@salemfilmfest.com. The 2020 and 2021 editions were run virtually. The Fest expects to be back in live venues in 2022.
