Manchester Animation Festival ran from 9 to 13 November 2025, with the awards handed out at HOME on the closing evening. Vinnie Ann Bose’s Sulaimani took the short-film prize, while Little Amélie or the Character of Rain won the feature award. The short-film jury brought together Amy Ashton, Joseph Wallace and Katie Bignell; Camilla Deakin, Ellys Donovan and Tim Harper judged the features. Screenings continued online from 14 to 30 November.
The festival also celebrated the people behind television animation. Its Industry Excellence Awards went to Davey Moore for scriptwriting and Dave McKenna for character animation on Maddie and Triggs, Sasha Fusini for storyboarding on Supertato, and Saeed Rezvani for character design on Mojo Swoptops.
Cartoon Saloon received the Fellowship Award for more than 25 years of animation. Co-founders Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey and Paul Young collected the honour during a week that also brought a 40th-anniversary screening of Angel’s Egg and the UK premiere of I am Frankelda.
