Vladimir Zuikov

Владимир Николаевич Зуйков

Born on January 27, 1935 in Moscow. After graduating from the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute named after V. P. Potemkin in 1956, he worked as a school teacher, engaged in illustrating under contracts in various publishing houses, magazines and newspapers.

From 1967 to the time of his death, he was a production designer at the Soyuzmultfilm film studio.

Works in the field of hand-drawn animation. He created most of the films with directors F. S. Khitruk, V. M. Ugarov, V. I. Morozov, N. E. Golovanova, G. M. Sokolsky, N. O. Lerner and others. Participated in the creation of more than 30 animated films.

Since 1972 he has been engaged in illustrating books. In 1996-2005, he was a teacher at the Children's School of Animation Art.

Since 2002, he has taught at the Department of Animation Film Directing at VGIK.

For many years he collaborated with book publishers; illustrated dozens of books, including works by K. Bulychev, A. Lindgren, A. A. Milne, G. Oster, O. Proisler, O. Wilde, A. Schmidt. He worked a lot with popular science magazines "Knowledge is power" and "Chemistry and Life".

His works are kept in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.

He died on February 25, 2021 from a coronavirus infection.
