Fyodor Popov was born on February 20, 1956 in Moscow. Having received a certificate of secondary education, a young man decides to connect his life with creativity and enters the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after Sergei Gerasimov. In 1979, he graduated from the economics department of this university, and later received a diploma at the directing faculty there.
Almost immediately he started working in the film industry. He worked on films: "Cloud-paradise", "Moscow", "Listen, is it raining", "Spartak and Kalashnikov", "Caucasian Roulette", "Shukshin Stories", "White Gold", "Four taxi drivers and a dog".
In 1990, Popov became the founder of the autonomous non-profit organization "Creative Studio "STELLA". The main direction of the team's work was the production of feature-length feature films, as well as documentaries and animated films. To a greater extent, fulfillment of foreign orders, work on joint international projects, production of documentaries for Western TV channels in cooperation with foreign companies.
Also in the same year, Fyodor Maksimovich joined the Russian Union of Cinematographers, and later became a member of the board of the Producers Guild of Russia. Further, Fyodor Popov worked on the projects "Homeland or death", "Features of national ice fishing, or a breakaway in full", "Petya on the way to the Kingdom of Heaven", "Everything is fine, Mom", "Toy", "How Gonsuke caught a fox", "Princess and beavers", "Absolutely not a simple story", "A ticket to life".
Fyodor Maksimovich Popov is also known as the General Director of the autonomous non-profit organization "Creative Studio "Stella"; General Director of LLC "VGIK-Debut"; General Director of the International Festival "VGIK"; Chairman of the Board of NP "Independent Producers"; Academician of the Golden Eagle Film Academy; Academician of the NIKA Film Academy; Member of the Russian Oscar Committee; Associate Professor of the Department of Production Skills of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography; Chairman of the State Attestation Commission of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Cinema and Television, specialty "Film and Television Production".
In May 2019, Fyodor Popov's film "The Corridor of Immortality" was released on the big screens.
