Rotterdam's CineMart 2024 has unveiled an eclectic lineup of 16 feature films and 4 immersive projects, set to run from Sunday, January 28, to Wednesday, January 31. Hailing from countries such as China, Tunisia, Singapore, Ireland, Angola, and the Netherlands, the selection promises a rich tapestry of storytelling.

In the film "Another Journey without Women," directed by Illum Jacobi, six chain-smoking know-it-alls embark on a tragi-comedic polar expedition in 1918 Greenland. Aisling Walsh's "Lucia" explores the troubled life of the daughter of James Joyce, adding an Irish touch to the international mix.

Swiss filmmaker Andreas Fontana's "Les Diplomates" delves into the secretive negotiations between diplomatic counterparts from Austria and Switzerland as the Eastern Bloc disintegrates. Meanwhile, Loïc Hobi's "Bad Gays" takes the car chase genre to the snow-covered mountain roads of Switzerland in a queer spin.

The selection extends to Argentina, with Eduardo Crespo's "La gruta del viento," where Mara returns to explore her mountainous origin, and Natalia Meta's "The Spirit of Law," portraying a congresswoman facing accusations in the political arena.

Singaporean filmmaker Daniel Hui's "Other People’s Dreams" unfolds the chaotic meeting of two runaway souls escaping their dark past in the streets of Singapore. The animated feature "Cherub" by Barbara Rupik and Yuan Gao's "Cloud of the Unknown" explore shape-shifting angelic beings and the key to a better world through dreams, respectively.

The immersive lineup features Joren Vandenbroucke's "The Great Escape (of three geraniums)" and Sara Tirelli's "Fathoming," immersing audiences in the underwater abyss. Leo Erken and Frieda Gustavs present "The March," a non-linear VR opera-without-words exploring our relations and responsibilities to war.

CineMart 2024 also brings back the Darkroom program, showcasing works-in-progress, and IFFR Pro Days, providing industry insights from January 25 to February 4, 2024. The IFFR Pro Awards, recognizing excellence in CineMart and Darkroom selections, will be presented on January 30, 2024.
