CPH:DOX 2024 Announces Juries for Its Record Number of Awards

CPH:DOX, the prestigious documentary film festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, is gearing up for its 21st edition with an impressive lineup of jury members for its film and industry competitions. As anticipation builds for the festival, organizers have announced the panels that will adjudicate a record-breaking number of awards this year.

The DOX:AWARD competition, featuring 12 feature-length world premieres, will be judged by an international jury including Jessica Kiang, Nataša Urban, Monica Hellström, Rémi Bohnhomme, and Carla Gutiérrez. The jury will select the winning film, which will receive a €10,000 cash prize sponsored by DR.

For the F:ACT Award, which explores the intersection between documentary filmmaking and investigative journalism, 10 films have been nominated. This competition's jury comprises Lena Karbe, Sigal Yehuda, and Maria Bäck, and the award includes a €5,000 cash prize.

The NEXT:WAVE Award, dedicated to emerging international artists and filmmakers, has 14 titles competing for a €5,000 prize. The jury for this competition includes Sofie Cato Maas, Wim Vanecker, and Christian Einshøj.

In the NORDIC:DOX Award category, 10 films from Nordic countries are selected to compete for a €5,000 prize. Mina Keshavarz, Murtada Elfadl, and Lin Alluna make up the jury for this competition.

The NEW:VISION Award, focusing on art films and boundary-pushing experiments, includes 15 titles. Bo Wang, Marie Braad, and Fatema Abdoolcarim will decide on the winner, who will receive a €5,000 cash prize.

The HUMAN:RIGHTS Award, a new addition celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, features 10 films competing for a €5,000 prize. Leah Sapin, Mette Hoffmann-Meyer, and Hanna Atallah are the appointed jury members for this award.

The Audience Award, with a €5,000 prize, allows festival-goers to vote for their favorite film, further engaging the audience in the festival's offerings.

Additionally, the INTER:ACTIVE Award introduces a new category for immersive works, with 17 pieces selected for competition. The jury includes Helene Nyborg, Peter Fisher, and Sofie Hvitved.

The festival will also present the New Eurimages Lab Awards, divided into the Innovation and Outreach Awards, aimed at supporting innovative projects with international cooperation potential and efforts to reach audiences beyond domestic scopes, respectively.

CPH:FORUM introduces the Rise And Shine Award for projects with the best international potential and the Unifrance Doc Award for the best French co-produced pitch, further highlighting the festival's commitment to supporting and promoting innovative filmmaking.

With such a diverse and talented group of jury members and a broad array of competitions, CPH:DOX 2024 is set to be a landmark event in the world of documentary and experimental film.
