Italy’s Venice Film Festival Announces Sveva Alviti as Host for 81st Edition Ceremonies

The Venice International Film Festival, now in its 81st year, has announced Italian actress Sveva Alviti as the host for both its opening and closing ceremonies. Scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024, the prestigious events will be held at the Sala Grande, located in the iconic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido di Venezia.
Alviti, renowned for her acting prowess and her contributions to international cinema, will kick off the festival on August 28. She will introduce the inaugural film and facilitate the evening's proceedings. As the festival concludes on September 7, Alviti will also oversee the presentation of the coveted Lions awards, among other honors, marking significant achievements in the film industry over the past year.
Having started her career in modeling before moving to acting, Alviti has developed a notable international career. Her roles have ranged from leading performances in French and Italian cinema to her recent ventures into directing. Noteworthy among her acting credits is the critically acclaimed biopic "Dalida," which premiered in 2017 and earned her significant recognition, including a nomination at the César awards the following year.
