OIAF 2024 Festival Passes Available: Early Bird Rates End July 23!
Passes for the 2024 Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) are now available for purchase. This year, the festival has introduced Early Bird pricing, providing attendees with an opportunity to save on their festival passes. These discounted rates are valid until July 23, 2024, and apply to a range of passes including AnimaPasses, Student AnimaPasses, TAC/OIAF Passes, TAC/OIAF 3-Day Passes, Weekend Passes, Student Weekend Passes, and Day Passes.
Students are particularly encouraged to take advantage of these Early Bird rates. Additionally, group orders are available, making it easier for students to coordinate their purchases and save further. This initiative helps alleviate the financial burden on students, making the festival more accessible to the animation community's younger members.
The OIAF is organized by the Canadian Film Institute (CFI), a Canadian non-profit organization. CFI members benefit from discounted festival passes, which include AnimaPasses, Weekend Passes, and Day Passes. These discounts are also applicable during the Early Bird period, providing further savings for cinephiles.
Volunteer opportunities are another way to participate in the festival. By volunteering, individuals can earn a Volunteer Pass, granting them access to the event. Volunteer applications open in July, offering roles that include Team Leads and general support positions. This initiative allows participants to engage with the festival while contributing to its success.
One of the highlights of the festival includes special screenings, such as "Optical Hopscotch: The Animation of Jonathan Djob Nkondo." This screening showcases the work of Jonathan Djob Nkondo, a London-based illustrator and animator known for his elegantly simple yet remarkable animation style. His work draws inspiration from manga and other art forms, bringing his imaginative worlds to life.
The festival will take place from September 25 to 29, 2024, at various venues across downtown Ottawa. In addition to screenings, the festival offers workshops and the Animation Conference (TAC), which celebrates its 20th year. TAC, running from September 25 to 27, provides a platform for networking and information exchange among industry professionals from North America and international markets.
Accommodations are available through partnerships with local hotels near key festival venues. These special rates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with most reservations needing to be made by August 2024.
