CPH:DOX, EAVE, and IMS Launch Collaborative Program to Boost Regional Documentary Co-Productions, Talents from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine Sought Are Invited To Apply
CPH:DOX, the renowned Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, has joined forces with EAVE and IMS (International Media Support) to launch CHANGE, a tailor-made co-production training program for documentary filmmakers from Eastern Europe.
The program is open to upcoming teams, comprising a director and producer, with projects in development from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The initiative aims to stimulate and qualify inter-regional co-production, as well as connect the selected projects to regional and international markets.
"CHANGE is a unique opportunity for documentary filmmakers from these countries to enhance their projects, expand their networks, and gain valuable insights from industry experts," said Anna Krasztev-Kovács, the program coordinator. "We are committed to providing an equal platform for diverse voices and stories that can drive social, political, and cultural change."
The CHANGE program will consist of three residential workshops, with the first taking place in Chisinau, Moldova, from October 28 to November 1, 2024. The focus will be on reinforcing the core storytelling and impact ambitions of the projects. The second workshop, scheduled for January 13-17, 2025, in Tbilisi, Georgia, will delve into the intricacies of co-production, preparing the participants to engage with the international market.
The third and final workshop will be held during the CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, from March 22 to 26, 2025. Here, the projects will be presented at the CPH:FORUM, allowing the teams to encounter the global documentary community and formulate tailored strategies for their films.
"We believe that supporting independent voices, creative imagination, and culturally driven companies within the global media industries is an urgent necessity," said EAVE's representative. "Through CHANGE, we aim to contribute to the creation of strong networks of producers and encourage the exchange of knowledge and skills to strengthen independent production across the world."
The application deadline for the CHANGE program is Monday, August 12, 2024. Interested filmmakers can download the application form from the official website. The selection process will involve an online interview in August, with the final participants announced in early September 2024.
