IFFR Pro Head Inke Van Loocke to Leave Rotterdam Film Festival in September
Inke Van Loocke, the Head of IFFR Pro at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), has announced her departure from the festival, effective in September 2024. Van Loocke’s decision marks the end of nearly two decades of dedicated service, during which she has played a pivotal role in shaping IFFR's industry programs.
IFFR Pro is the professional segment of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, focusing on fostering connections and providing a platform for filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals worldwide. The program is renowned for its flagship initiatives such as CineMart, one of the oldest co-production markets in the world, and the Rotterdam Lab, a training workshop for emerging producers. IFFR Pro also includes distribution support through the Hubert Bals Fund and provides networking opportunities, workshops, and seminars aimed at supporting independent cinema.
Van Loocke began her journey with IFFR in 2005 as a volunteer. Over the years, she transitioned into various key roles within the festival, eventually becoming the head of IFFR Pro in 2022. Her tenure has been marked by significant contributions, including her leadership of CineMart and the management of the Rotterdam Lab, both of which have gained international recognition under her guidance.
Reflecting on her time at the festival, Van Loocke stated, "It’s been a huge privilege seeing films come to life from synopsis to screen and to support the whole ecosystem around it. It is truly one of the best jobs in the world on many levels. I’m grateful for all the experience, and trust instilled in me over the years.”
Van Loocke's departure leaves a notable vacancy in the IFFR team. Under her leadership, IFFR Pro has become one of the leading industry programs worldwide, providing crucial support to filmmakers and producers through its various initiatives.
The festival has expressed its deep appreciation for Van Loocke’s dedication and impact, wishing her all the best in her future endeavors. The search for her successor has already begun, with applications for the Head of IFFR Pro position being accepted until 30 August.
