Open Call for Producers: Rotterdam Lab 2025 Workshop Seeks Applicants
The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) Pro initiative has opened the call for its 2025 Rotterdam Lab, a prestigious training program aimed at emerging international film producers. Rotterdam Lab, marking its 25th edition during IFFR 2025, is a cornerstone of the festival's commitment to supporting the next generation of producers in navigating the intricacies of international co-productions, film financing, and distribution.
Rotterdam Lab is traditionally an invitation-only event, with more than 70 producers from around the world selected annually through a nomination process. For the second time, however, IFFR Pro is extending an open call for participation, offering a maximum of five spots for producers who meet specific eligibility criteria.
The program is particularly focused on increasing the diversity of voices within the Lab’s cohort. Producers who identify as ethnically diverse, LGBTQIA+, non-binary, gender-diverse, or having a disability are encouraged to apply. Additionally, producers from European countries with low production capacities, such as Albania, Romania, or Bosnia and Herzegovina, are eligible to participate if they are not represented by any of Rotterdam Lab’s partner organizations.
Applicants must have experience in producing at least two short films and be actively working on their first or second feature-length project. A strong interest in international collaboration and the need to expand one’s global network is key to the selection process.
The application process requires candidates to submit a comprehensive form including an up-to-date CV, a motivation letter, and, optionally, a portfolio or project dossier. The motivation letter should highlight the applicant’s desire to develop their international network, detail their relevant experiences, and outline the specific skills they aim to enhance through the workshop.
Selected participants will benefit from:
- Full participation in the Rotterdam Lab workshop during IFFR 2025.
- Five nights of hotel accommodation.
- Accreditation for IFFR’s renowned CineMart, a key event for film financing and co-productions.
Travel expenses are not covered by the program, and applicants must submit their forms by October 21, 2024, at 23:59 CEST. Results will be communicated by mid-November 2024.
