Rotterdam Film Festival Unveils First Thirteen Films for 2025 Bright Future and Harbour Programs

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) has announced an exciting lineup of thirteen world premieres across its Bright Future and Harbour programs for its 2025 edition. The Bright Future program, known for spotlighting emerging filmmakers, includes films that explore themes of identity, friendship, and societal challenges. Highlights from this year’s selection are "1 Girl Infinite," a visually rich exploration of girlhood and desire set in Changsha, China, and "Camp d’été," a joyful documentary centered around the Swiss Scout Movement and the transformative experiences of young people at summer camp. Other films, such as "Nyamula," dive into complex friendships and accusations of witchcraft, while "Later in the Clearing" presents a unique journey through art and history with Hungarian animator Péter Molnár.

The Harbour program, which focuses on directors with distinctive voices and perspectives, includes films from a broader range of filmmakers and themes. Notable selections include "Dead Dog," a deep dive into the estranged relationship of a Lebanese couple, and "Primitive Diversity," an ironic look at the history and future of image technology and artificial intelligence. "Un gran casino" offers a critical perspective on global capitalism through the lens of Europe’s largest casino, while "Your Touch Makes Others Invisible" sheds light on the enforced disappearances that occurred during Sri Lanka's 26-year civil war.
