Bekir, a curious and highly imaginative seven-year-old, is a first-grade student in elementary school. At school, his teacher Orhan assigns a daily one-page homework to help develop the students’ writing skills. While the other children simply write about their day, Bekir — filled with dreams of becoming a police officer — creates an entire world of his own, writing fifteen pages of imaginary adventures in which he fights for justice and heroically catches criminals. One day, Orhan views Bekir’s excessive creativity as a “bad example for the other children” and calls his family to the school. Bekir soon finds himself trapped between the physical violence he endures from his father at home and the psychological pressure from his teacher at school. Caught in this double-sided struggle, he tries to find the strength within himself to protect his dreams. His imaginary world becomes his refuge as he faces the harsh realities of life.
