Alterity is an installation artwork where media archeologist and musician Jacco Gardner creates live audiovisual performances using obscure and abandoned sound and visual synthesizers, video mixers and lighting controllers and 16-bit computers like the Atari ST and Macintosh Classic. Instead of programming these legacy machines manually, Gardner converses with a modern AI “CONDUCTOR” system that understands both human language and the legacy protocols of forgotten technology.
