Little Sinner

In 2007, Daro is living in Damascus when she meets Toke, a young man from Denmark. An engagement meant to protect her family's reputation draws her into an abusive forced marriage, before Toke helps her escape to Denmark. When war breaks out in Syria in 2011, she becomes involved in the refugee crisis and must confront the wounds she thought she had left behind. Drawing on two decades of personal recordings, Daro Hansen and Thomas Papapetros trace a life shaped by displacement, family expectations and the struggle to break cycles of violence.
