Awards Selection About

The Foyle Film Festival is a renowned event that takes place annually in Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Established in 1987 and led by the Nerve Centre, it is Northern Ireland’s only film festival affiliated with the Oscars® and BAFTA. The festival is celebrated for bringing the best of international cinema and industry players to the city.

The festival offers a comprehensive program that includes documentaries, short films, and feature films from all over the world. It also hosts educational events for schools, youth, and adults, as well as industry networking events and panel discussions.

One of the highlights of the festival is the prestigious Light In Motion (LIM) competition, which is open to filmmakers, animators, and artists across the world. The competition categories include Best Irish Short, Best International Short, and Best Animated Short. Recipients of the LIM Awards qualify for consideration in the Live Action and Animated Short Film categories of the Academy Awards® without needing the standard theatrical run.

The Foyle Film Festival is also an IMDb Qualifying Festival, granting all eligible film submissions a fast-tracked title page on IMDb.com. Over the years, the festival has attracted top industry professionals and has become a platform for Oscar®, BAFTA, and BIFA winners.

The 36th Foyle Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 17 to November 26, 2023.
