The 69th BFI London Film Festival ran from 8 to 19 October 2025, bringing 252 titles from 79 countries to audiences in London and across the UK. The programme ranged from features and shorts to series and immersive work, and closed with Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero at the Royal Festival Hall.
Elizabeth Karlsen chaired the Official Competition jury alongside Justin Chang and Kahlil Joseph. Separate juries were led by Kibwe Tavares for first features, Eloïse King for documentaries and Ming-Jung Kuo for shorts. Lucrecia Martel’s Landmarks won Best Film, with the jury recognising its account of the killing of Indigenous leader Javier Chocobar and the community’s search for justice.
The audience results followed on 6 November: Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet won Best Feature Film, while Yemi Bamiro’s Black Is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story received Best British Discovery.
