London’s 22nd International Animation Festival ran from 28 November to 7 December 2025, opening at the Barbican with a tribute to Emma Calder and the world premiere of her final film, House of Love. The programme moved between London cinemas and online screenings, with 77 films from 30 countries in eight international competition programmes and a separate British showcase. Barnaby Templer, Natasza Cetner and Mario Radev judged the international competition and British showcase; Beth Walker and Jordan Buckner assessed the abstract films. Andrew Kelleher and Dave Anderson judged Late Night Bizarre and music videos, while Lilith Silver and Reuben Carter chose the children’s winners. Anu-Laura Tuttelberg’s On Weary Wings Go By took the top prize. Kate Costello’s Cowgirlies, presented in three episodes — Pony Express, Escort the Lover and Let Love Win — won Late Night Bizarre, and Winston Hacking’s video for Foxwarren’s Listen2Me won Best Music Video. That jury also gave an honourable mention to Kiwihug’s Small Town Madness!, directed by FOM FOM (Sujin Kim) and Au Matt. Audience voting ended in a three-way tie in Animated Documentaries, shared by Winter in March, Biting the Hand that Feeds You and Mealitancy.
