Biografilm Festival

Biografilm’s 22nd edition ran in Bologna from June 5 to 15, 2026, with 64 films in the official selection and stories drawn from 34 countries. Its programme placed personal histories alongside films about communities, contemporary politics, art and music. A new Education Award, decided by a jury of secondary-school teachers from Bologna, went to Daro Hansen and Thomas Papapetros’s Little Sinner. Beyond the film competitions, Celebration of Lives honours recognised casting director Bonnie Timmermann, filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania and actress Milena Vukotic. Marco Visalberghi, founder of DocLab, received the Make It Real Award during Bio to B — Industry Days for his contribution to documentary production.
