The 77th Cannes Film Festival, set to take place from May 14 to May 25, 2024, in Cannes, France, will bring together the global film community for a celebration of cinematic excellence. Presided over by American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig, the main competition jury will evaluate a selection of films vying for the coveted Palme d'Or.  The festival will open with Quentin Dupieux's "The Second Act" and feature out-of-competition premieres like "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" by George Miller. An honorary Palme d'Or will be awarded to George Lucas, recognizing his contributions to cinema. The festival serves as a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers, with sections like Un Certain Regard, helmed by Xavier Dolan, focusing on films of distinct originality.

Festival de Cannes, until 2003 called the International Film Festival (Festival international du film) and known in English as the Cannes Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world.
