The 15th StopTrik International Film Festival brought stop-motion animation to Maribor, Slovenia, from 24 to 28 September 2025. Under the theme “Satire, Blasphemy, Carnival”, its retrospectives explored animation’s unruly sense of humour, from political satire to feminist comedy. The adult competition and Panorama strands presented 71 shorts, with another 15 films in the children’s competition. The audience had the final say on the Grand Prix: Detlev and The Girl Who Cried Pearls shared the stop-motion prize, while Sewing Machine won in Borderlands. Student jurors Melita Sandrin, Lucija Klauž and Kristjan Matjašič made their own choices, alongside votes from three age groups of young viewers. This was also the first edition held solely in Slovenia, following the end of the festival’s Polish chapter.
