The 19th Big Cartoon Festival unfolded in Moscow from 24 October to 17 November 2025, combining cinema screenings, workshops and an online programme. More than 300 animated works from 35 countries reached 18,300 viewers at over 50 venues. Ugo Bienvenu’s Arco opened the festival, Hungary was the guest country, and animator Nina Bisyarina was its featured artist.
The jury awards were announced at the Illuzion cinema on 5 November. ChaO won the feature competition, The Night Boots took the international short-film Grand Prix, and Anastasia Lis’s The Tale of a Little Spark was named best Russian animation. Audiences chose Sophie Roze’s The Drifting Guitar. The feature jury comprised Boris Mashkovtsev, Andrijana Ružić and Marina Landa.
A new industry programme at AKI.lab brought animation professionals together to discuss education, artificial intelligence, advertising and virtual worlds. The festival continued beyond its awards night with the Animation Factory workshops and online screenings from 7 to 16 November.
