Four nights of animation under the open sky shaped the 14th Insomnia festival, held near Rylyaki in Russia’s Kaluga region from 9 to 13 July 2026. By day, the woodland site made room for music, lectures, workshops, performances and art installations. The screening programme brought together 223 works from 39 countries, selected from more than 1,600 submissions. Directors Natalia Grofpel, Liana Makarian and Nikita Meshcheryakov joined screenwriter Inga Kirkizh and digital artist Prokopiy Ulyashov on the jury, with Pavel Shvedov serving as artistic director. Polina Bovkun’s 12 p.m. — also known as Twelve o’clock in the Afternoon — took the Grand Prix, while Elizaveta Khlomova’s Four Stops won the national competition.
