Nordisk Panorama Film Festival
Also known as: Nordisk Panorama, Nordisk Panorama Festival & Market
Nordisk Panorama’s 37th edition brought Nordic documentaries and short films to Malmö from September 17 to 22, 2026. Across 57 competition films, intimate family stories shared the programme with animation, political history and new filmmaking voices. Sylvelin Måkestad’s The Smuggler won Best Nordic Documentary, while Anna Mantzaris’s stop-motion film Please took Best Nordic Short Film.
Leona Cauklija’s Son received the New Nordic Voice Award, and the youngest viewers chose Karin Tötterman’s The Karaoke King. The City of Malmö’s Audience Award went to Little Sinner, Daro Hansen and Thomas Papapetros’s documentary drawing on two decades of personal recordings.
The festival also looked beyond finished films. Finnish producer Juha Löppönen of Mouka Filmi received the Nordic Documentary Producer Award for his work supporting filmmakers and cross-border collaboration. At the documentary Forum, the DAE Talent Encouragement Award supported Knots, a project by director-producer Maria Tórgarð and producer Gustav Ahnelöv. The ARTE European Talent Development Award went to Lost at Sea, directed by Ejner Benedict Seidelin and produced by Claes Hedlund of Paloma Pictures. These distinctions recognised a producer’s body of work and projects in development, rather than additional films in the competition.
